It took 157 years after Plimoth was established for the Town of Lee to follow suit.

One of the major reasons was, ironically, because of one of the major attractions of the Berkshires that now bring visitors flooding to visit – the hills and mountains.

The tourism brochures enticing those who seek the glories of this area would certainly never describe it as “a hideous, howling wilderness”, but that’s how one early visitor thought of it. Thank goodness that particular critic is no longer available to influence the area’s marketing programs!
